Adobe Illustrator- What Does It Do?

Adobe Illustrator has carved out a niche for itself in graphics designing allowing designers to go beyond vector graphics and stretch the borders of their imagination to invent ingenious logo designs, illustrations, advert merchandise, and product packaging.
It has raised the bar so much so that every vector designer refers to it as the platform of their inventions.

FEATURES

You would expect a powerful graphic design software like this to have exciting features and Adobe Illustrator did not disappoint. I am sharing this Adobe Illustrator Review so that you will find out why you need this software in your graphic design tools.
The following features are what you should expect from your Adobe illustration software.

1. PIXEL PERFECT DESIGN

Within your Adobe illustrator, every pixel is the priority and paid attention to. This guarantees sharp results that are intentional and sleek.

2. SNAP TO PIXEL CAPABILITY

Using the snap to pixel capability, Adobe Illustrator allows you to take full control of your artwork as you align them on their exact pixel boundaries.

3. TOUCH WORKSPACE

The touch workspace is built to work with Windows 10 and offers a wide range of possibilities. Having this feature on your fingertips, navigating through the software becomes a walk in the park. In the touch workspace, you can zoom in and out, pan, pick widgets and carry out other commands without having to punch stubborn buttons.

4. MAGNIFICATION OPTION

Nothing spells precision like the way magnification options brings the design closer to the designer. By bringing the design closer to the designer, the magnification option gives the designer the opportunity to see more details.

5. CUSTOMIZABLE TOOLBAR

The Adobe Illustrator has a basic and advanced toolbar. While the basic toolbar consists of commonly used tools, the advanced toolbar is a well-developed toolbar containing a variety of tools needed by a professional. Another spotlight to the toolbar is the fact that it can be tweaked to fit the benefits and needs of its user.

In the toolbar found on Adobe Illustrator, you can customize, add, remove or group tools in any order that suits you.

6. COLOR SYNCHRONIZATION

A designer cannot be separated from colors and you cannot separate colors from a designer. The ability to blend colors in a way that it appeals to the senses of your audience is your greatest skill as a designer. Adobe Illustrator just made this very easy.

Adobe illustrator employs highlighting color options that allow you to easily review your schematic and design.
This feature also makes sure that your colors convey the message you are trying to express by toning down some areas and highlighting the important areas.

7. TRIM VIEW

Adobe Illustrator supports a view mode known as Trim view. This feature gives you total control over your design by presenting it without grids or border lines. This allows you to do away with any work that lies
outside the boundary with ease.

8. USER INTERFACE

Adobe Illustrator allows you to scale the software’s interface based on your screen. With this feature, you have a say on how the interface should look like.

Other features worthy of note are:
• Live shapes capability
• Import and export of settings
• Built-in design templates
• Images in brushes
• Synchronized updating capability
• File packaging.
• CSS extractor
• Magnification option
• Drawing enhancement
• Smart Guides.

COMPATIBILITY
Adobe Illustrator is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. In also supports multiple languages and can be launched on cloud-hosted or open API.

Pros And Cons

1. PIXEL-PERFECT DESIGN

Adobe is known for its ability to create perfect designs from scratch. It does this by automatically aligning created paths to the nearest pixel grid which in turn produces a sharp result.

2. INTELLIGENT PROPERTY PANEL

This might just be the most outstanding feature of the Adobe Illustrator. It synchronizes you with the tools
and would pop up tools that flow in line with your style as a designer. It does this with artificial intelligence that takes note of your actions within the software and records them, then brings them up as at when due.

3. BETTER ORGANIZATION AND ART BOARDS

Adobe Illustrator allows you to create over 500 artboards with the ability to arrange them neatly. This
feature alone boosts efficiency and saves you a lot of time as a designer.

4. ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD

Adobe Creative Cloud allows you to store and access your design files anywhere in the world without having you to necessarily move your computer from place to place. This creates ease of access that makes life as a designer much fun. With Adobe creative cloud, there are no limits to the lengths you can take to secure
your files.

5. ADOBE STOCK
Talk about having the largest picture base at a swipe of your fingers. The Adobe stock offers you access to well over 600 million images, templates, and designs which would come in handy when you need to pick the
right template for a project.

Timely post Virginia!

I’ve been using Snagit for my editing needs but the features there are not enough. I have to arrange photos into a collage on one image but when I moved the images, I realised that Snagit doesn’t have an alignment to help centre the picture so I switched to Adobe Illustrator and it feels good! Highly recommended but the learning curve might take a little getting used to

Hi Virginia, interesting review on Adobe illustrator. Adobe Illustrator is a must have for every graphic artist. Its features are flexible and it is easy for a first timer to use, what I am trying to say is that it is user-friendly. I use this tool a lot, mostly use it for resizing of passports and designing of logos. Its magnification option is great, it truly makes the design large enough for the designer to see details of his work.

Hi Gracen,

I definitely agree with you! I have created a lot of my designs in Illustrator. Logos, business cards and brochures can be created with scalable detail.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Adobe illustrator but the cost man. It’s always the cost with their adobe products. Constant good reviews, but WAY out of my budget. I managed to get Clip Studio Paint for free for 2 years when I bought my drawing tablet and it’s serving me well enough. I’ll stick with it until I get a job again.

Caldero,

Yes, the cost is something that one needs to consider, especially if you are unemployed!

However the quality can’t be beaten, and when you consider all that comes with the membership the cost is justified for the freelance graphic designer or professional.

Adobe illustrator as the name implies actually illustrates but I’m not too comfortable with the cost though thinking about it’s great features I come to realize that it worth it. The adobe illustrator artificial intelligence is superb which helps you get what you really want as a designer. Another thing I like so much about adobe illustrator is the cloud protection. Hi Virginia Villalobos,

This is a great product review with all important feature about Adobe Illustrator Software. I love this software since I am working all of my graphic works through it. I have same opinion and agreed with you that only cons of this product is it’s high price and monthly membership now. But I have found that many people are using it without purchasing the membership license. Some of the lower version is still available without purchasing. However, I believe this will be always best graphic design tool always.

Hi, and you are welcome! Creativity and Color go hand in hand. Color evokes certain reactions and feelings in people, which can then be used to help with the design process once understood.
